The Mission of the Department of Corrections is to enhance the safety of our communities while providing secure confinement, reformative programs, and a process of supervised community reintegration.
I am pleased to make this profile available on line. This report is based on our best information and serves as a snapshot of a typical day. Data comes from our Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS), and is meant to give a general summary of Alaska’s offender population. ACOMS is our new database and went live in May of 2010. It is our expectation that this new system will provide even better data than before.
The 2010 Offender Profile – which encompasses many hours of research and calculation on the part of department staff – serves as a valuable tool for our department in the successful accomplishment of our mission. ..Source.. by Joe Schmidt, Commissioner
