August 2009:The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs’ Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding under the SMART Office FY 2009 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program. This program furthers the Department’s mission by assisting states, territories and certain federally recognized American Indian tribes, as specified in the eligibility section, with implementation of requirements under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, specifically Subtitle A of Title I, the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
Applicants are limited to states, territories, and federally recognized American Indian tribes who have elected to carry out the requirements of SORNA.
